I’ve been to Taipei multiple times, and I still can’t get enough of it! 😍
From the vibrant night markets to scenic mountain spots, Taipei always gives me something new to explore.
While I dream of visiting places like Kaohsiung next, I’m still on the hustle to save that sweet, sweet M-O-N-E-Y 💸
If you’re headed to Taiwan, especially Taipei, here are some must-visit places that I 100% recommend, whether it’s your first time or your fifth.
1. Explore Their Famous Night Markets
You cannot say you’ve been to Taiwan if you haven’t eaten your way through a night market!
One of my top faves?
🏮 Taipei Night Markets on Google Maps
Night Market | Highlights | Google Maps |
---|---|---|
Raohe Street Night Market | Historic, compact market near Songshan Ciyou Temple, famous for black pepper buns & Michelin-recommended eats. | View Map |
Shilin Night Market | Taipei’s largest night market, fried chicken, oyster omelets, and tons of shopping stalls. | View Map |
Ningxia Night Market | Smaller but very food-focused, great for oyster omelets and classic Taiwanese street snacks. | View Map |
-
Raohe: Best for a local, less crowded feel and iconic snacks like pepper buns.
- Shilin: Great if you want the full night market experience, food, shopping, and atmosphere.
- Ningxia: Ideal for serious foodies, smaller, focused, and easy to navigate.
2. Visit Longshan Temple
A peaceful break from the buzz, this temple is rich in culture and beautifully detailed. You’ll find locals lighting incense, praying, and soaking in tradition.
3. Hike Elephant Mountain

If you want a killer view of Taipei 101, this is your spot. It’s a short (but sweaty) hike and totally worth it, especially during sunset.
4. Shop (or just chill) at Ximending
📍 Map
It’s like Taipei’s version of Harajuku, trendy, busy, and full of fashion, food, and fun. Street performers, shops, and cafes all in one vibrant area.
5. See Taipei 101 Up Close

You can visit the observatory, shop in the high-end mall below, or just take a ton of photos outside. Taipei 101 is a must-see!

6. Relax at Beitou Hot Springs
📍 Map
A great way to unwind, especially in cooler months. You can enjoy the free public hot spring or splurge on a private bath at a nearby resort. There's also the Beitou Hot Spring Museum worth visiting.
