Part 2: Traveling Guide to Philippines - Where to Shop, Explore, and Enjoy Nightlife in Metro Manila (2025 Travel Guide)

Here's our Part 2! In Part 1, I've shared some basic things you need, such as the applications you can use for buying food, traveling, purchasing a SIM card, and exchanging money.

I'll add more to this blog post, and I hope it helps you on your journey here in Metro Manila.

Whether you’re a tourist in the Philippines or a local looking to rediscover your city, Metro Manila has something for everyone, from huge shopping malls to underrated night markets, IG-worthy landmarks, and nightlife spots. Here's a quick guide based on my personal favorites and experiences.

Shopping Districts

One thing I love about Manila? Malls are basically everywhere. Whether you're window shopping or going all out, here are the top shopping spots worth checking out (click on "map"):

Greenhills Shopping Center (map)

If you’re hunting for affordable clothes, gadgets, and pearls (yes, legit South Sea pearls!), Greenhills is a go-to. It’s also famous for its tiangge-style stalls, just be ready to haggle!

Note: I still don't recommend buying branded items there, as there are some dupe or fake branded bags, clothes, and so on. Be careful when you purchase

SM Megamall (map)

This mall is one of the biggest in Southeast Asia. From high-end shops to budget-friendly finds, Megamall has it all,  plus an ice skating rink and ArtBar for creatives.

Mall of Asia (MOA) (map)

Imagine a mall with a view of the bay. That’s MOA. If you love sunsets, are a foodie, or want seaside dining. There's also a huge concert arena and amusement park rides nearby.

Glorietta + Greenbelt (Makati) (map)

These two are side by side in Ayala Center. Glorietta has a youthful, more affordable vibe while Greenbelt feels more posh with luxury brands and a scenic garden in the middle,  a calm spot amidst the city chaos.

Mitsukoshi Mall (BGC) (map)

A Japanese-inspired mall with stylish interiors, curated food halls, and beauty finds. It’s new, aesthetic, and definitely a place to bring your camera.

Must-Visit Spots Around the Metro

Here are some places I personally enjoyed and recommend for a half-day or weekend visit:

Venice Grand Canal Mall (Taguig) (map)

Feels like a mini Europe. You can ride a gondola, take photos on the bridge, and dine al fresco by the canal.

Mitsukoshi + Central Square (BGC) (map)

BGC is modern and walkable. After checking out Mitsukoshi, head to Central Square for books, art, and brunch.

Ugbo Street Food – Tondo (map)

For brave foodies, this is the real deal. Think skewers, isaw, and grilled everything. Super affordable and full of character.

Binondo – Manila’s Old Chinatown (map)

History + food trip in one. Try lumpia, hopia, and mami while walking along Ongpin Street. Visit century-old temples and Filipino-Chinese landmarks.

Manila Bay (map)

Still a classic. Come at golden hour, grab street food (hello, taho!), and watch the sun set over the water. It’s free and always magical.

Nightlife in Metro Manila

If you’re looking to unwind at night, Manila doesn’t sleep. Here’s where to go:

  • Poblacion, Makati – Trendy bars, rooftop spots, and underground music. Backpacker-friendly.

  • BGC (The Palace, XYLO, Yes Please) – Upscale clubs and lounges for the party crowd.

  • Resorts World Manila – Casino + shows + fine dining.

  • Eastwood City – Has a mix of bars and chill spots in a walkable setting.

  • Tomas Morato (QC) – Lively drinking spots with karaoke, pulutan, and local vibes.

Just a few reminders to make your Metro Manila adventure smooth and safe:

  • Always keep an eye on your bag, especially in crowded places
  • Avoid opening your phone while walking, it's safer and you'll enjoy the view
  • Be attentive, especially in unfamiliar areas
  • Use Google Maps or Grab for easy navigation and transport
  •  Bring a portable power bank, you’ll need it!
  • Try to carry cash and a card, some spots are cash-only (THIS IS A MUST!)

Metro Manila is a mix of everything. Plan a little, stay alert, and explore with an open mind. Whether you're shopping, eating, or dancing the night away, there's always something new to discover in the city.
