Food Recipe[Healthy Meal Ideas]: 4 Easy Healthy Breakfast Smoothie Recipes for Busy Mornings

0

Sometimes breakfast is the meal that I have the least amount of time to prepare.

Some mornings I want something hearty, but I really don't want to cook eggs, make a full meal or spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

That’s where smoothies really come in handy.

I found these easy smoothie ideas and loved how simple they are to make. Most of the ingredients are things you can easily find in the grocery store, and you don’t need any complicated cooking skills to prepare them.

Looking for easy healthy breakfast smoothie recipes you can make in just a few minutes? Here are four easy ones to try.

Easy • Quick Breakfast • Healthy Meal Ideas

1. Power Berry Smoothie

If you're a fan of berries, this is probably the first smoothie I would try.

It combines mixed berries with protein powder, almond milk, and berry superfood powder. It's colorful, fruity, and very easy to blend together.

Ingredients:

  • 150g mixed berries

  • 1 scoop protein powder

  • 300ml almond milk

  • 1 teaspoon berry superfood powder

How to:

  1. Add 150g of mixed berries to your blender.

  2. Add 1 scoop of your preferred protein powder.

  3. Pour in 300ml of almond milk.

  4. Add 1 teaspoon of berry superfood powder.

  5. Blend everything until smooth and creamy.

  6. Add a little more almond milk if you prefer a thinner smoothie.

  7. Pour into a glass and enjoy.

And that’s it! I love using frozen berries for smoothies because it makes the drink cold and thick without adding too much ice.

You can use fresh or frozen mixed berries, whatever you have on hand. If your protein powder is already sweetened you probably won’t need to add any additional sweetener.

2. Creamy Strawberry Smoothie

Strawberry smoothies are one of those things that are hard to screw up.

This one uses Greek yogurt, frozen strawberries, ground flax and nut butter. You could also use coconut yogurt or green tea as the liquid depending on the consistency and flavor you want.

Ingredients:

  • 150g Greek yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon flaxseed

  • 1 teaspoon nut butter

  • 150g frozen strawberries

  • 200ml coconut yogurt or green tea

How to:

  1. Add 150g of Greek yogurt to your blender.

  2. Add 1 teaspoon of flaxseed.

  3. Add 1 teaspoon of your preferred nut butter.

  4. Add 150g of frozen strawberries.

  5. Pour in 200ml of coconut yogurt or green tea.

  6. Blend until everything is smooth.

  7. Add a little more liquid if the smoothie is too thick.

  8. Pour into a glass and serve.

The frozen strawberries should already make this smoothie nice and cold.

If you want it creamier, coconut yogurt is a good option. If you want something lighter, you can try green tea instead.

You can use other berries if you don't have strawberries available.

For a sweeter smoothie, you can add a small amount of your preferred sweetener.

3. Peanut Butter Oat Smoothie

This one is for all you banana and peanut butter lovers.

I like this type of smoothie because the ingredients are very simple. You don't need a long grocery list to make breakfeast.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana

  • 250ml almond milk

  • 1 teaspoon peanut butter

  • 1 tablespoon oats

  • Cinnamon, to taste

How to:

  1. Peel one banana and place it into the blender.

  2. Add 250ml of almond milk.

  3. Add 1 teaspoon of peanut butter.

  4. Add 1 tablespoon of oats.

  5. Sprinkle in some cinnamon.

  6. Blend everything until smooth.

  7. Pour into a glass and enjoy.

If you like your smoothie colder and thicker, try freezing the banana first. I would also start with a little cinnamon and add more if you like it stronger.

You can use either rolled oats or quick oats for this smoothie. If after adding the oats your smoothie is too thick, simply add a little more almond milk.

You could also change the amount of peanut butter to how strong of peanut butter you want flavor to be.

4. Blueberry Protein Shake

Another easy option if you're looking for something that combines berries, Greek yogurt and protein powder is this blueberry protein shake.

The recipe also calls for a handful of kale or spinach, which is an easy way to get some leafy greens into a smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • 100g Greek yogurt

  • 1 scoop protein powder

  • 100g frozen berries

  • A handful of kale or spinach

  • Water, as needed

How to:

  1. Add 100g of Greek yogurt to your blender.

  2. Add 1 scoop of protein powder.

  3. Add 100g of frozen berries.

  4. Add a handful of kale or spinach.

  5. Pour in some water.

  6. Blend everything until smooth.

  7. Add more water if you prefer a thinner consistency.

  8. Pour into a glass and serve.

I would personally start with a handful of spinach if you are not used to adding greens to your smoothies. Frozen berries also help give the smoothie a cold texture.

You can use blueberries, strawberries, raspberries or a mixed berry combination.

If you are using kale of spinach you may want to use a smaller amount at first because kale has a stronger flavor.

Smoothie Tips

Making smoothies doesn't have to be hard. Once you have a basic ingredients at home you can easily change the flavors based on what you feel like having.

  1. Use frozen fruit
Fruit is one of my favorite things to use in smoothies. It makes the smoothie cold and smooth without needing a lot of ice and frozen berries are really helpful because you don't have to worry about them going bad.

  2. Don't add much liquid all at once
This is something I found out when I was making smoothies. It's better to add liquid than to try to fix a smoothie that is already too runny. Start with the amount that is suggested and add more a bit at a time until you get the texture you want.

  3. Add protein if you want a satisfying smoothie
Protein powder and Greek yogurt can be added to many different smoothie recipes. You can use the protein powder you usually use and change the amount based on the directions, on the package.

  4. Keep your ingredients on hand
If you often make smoothies for breakfast it helps to have frozen berries, bananas, Greek yogurt, almond milk, oats and nut butter ready.

This way you don't have to think much about what to make in the morning.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I Prepare Smoothies the Night Before?
You can prepare some of the ingredients ahead of time, especially the frozen fruit. For example, you can portion your berries, banana, oats, or other dry ingredients ahead of time so they're ready to put into the blender in the morning.

For the best taste and texture, however, I prefer blending the smoothie shortly before drinking it.

  • Can I Use Fresh Fruit Instead of Frozen Fruit? Yes.
You can use fresh strawberries, blueberries, bananas, or mixed berries. The main difference is that frozen fruit will usually give you a colder and thicker smoothie.

If you're using fresh fruit and want your smoothie colder, you can add a few ice cubes.

  • What Can I Use Instead of Almond Milk?
If you don't have almond milk, you can use another milk or milk alternative that you normally enjoy. The flavor and consistency will change slightly depending on what you use.

You can also adjust the amount of liquid depending on how thick you want your smoothie.

  • Are Smoothies Good for Breakfast?
Smoothies can be a convenient breakfast option because they're quick to prepare and can combine several different ingredients in one drink.

For a more balanced breakfast, you can include ingredients such as fruit, Greek yogurt, oats, nut butter, or protein powder depending on your dietary needs and preferences.

Just remember that smoothies can vary significantly in calories, sugar, protein, and other nutrients depending on the ingredients and portions you use.

I like recipes that don't require too much work, especially in the morning.

These easy healthy breakfast smoothie recipes are simple enough to prepare when you're in a hurry, and you can easily change the ingredients depending on what you have available.

For banana and peanut butter lovers, the Peanut Butter Oat Smoothie is probably the one to try first.

And if you want a protein smoothie with berries and leafy greens, try the Blueberry Protein Shake.
