Have you tried editing your Pinterest profile but saw that the website is grayed out? I'll share with you how to change the website in your Pinterest account.
To change the website linked to your pinterest account here are the steps:
1. Login to your pinterest account and click on your profile located in the upper right corner:2. Once you are on your profile page where your created pins are located → Click on "Edit Profile" : https://ph.pinterest.com/settings/claim
3. Click on "Claimed external accounts" → and you'll see "Unclaim" beside the old website that you need to change:
4. Then click on "Claim" to enter your new website, pinterest will provide THREE OPTIONS to verify this
- Sign in to your Pinterest business account.
- Click the menu icon in the upper-right corner of the page.
- Go to Settings → Claimed accounts.
- Next to Websites, click Claim.
- Under Add HTML tag, copy the provided tag.
- Click Continue to proceed.
- Open your website editor or hosting panel in another tab.
- Paste the copied tag into the
<head>
section of your homepage (before</head>
). - Save your changes and publish if required.
- Return to Pinterest, type in your website URL, and click Verify.
- Once your site is verified, you can remove the tag if you choose.
- Log in to your Pinterest business account.
- Click the menu icon at the top-right of the screen.
- Navigate to Settings → Claimed accounts.
- Find Websites and select Claim.
- Under Upload HTML file, click Download and then Continue.
- Open your website’s hosting panel or FTP client.
- Upload the downloaded HTML file to your site’s root directory (not a subfolder).
- Return to Pinterest, enter your website URL, and click Verify.
- Pinterest will automatically check the file. Once verified, you may delete it from your server if desired.
- Access your Pinterest business account.
- Click the menu icon in the top-right corner.
- Go to Settings → Claimed accounts.
- Click Claim beside Websites.
- Under Add TXT record, copy the provided record and hit Continue.
- Sign in to your domain hosting provider in a new tab.
- Locate the DNS management area and add the TXT record you copied.
- If required by your host, add @ in the Host field.
- Save the changes. It might take up to 72 hours to update.
- Return to Pinterest, enter your URL, and click Verify.
- Once confirmed, you can remove the TXT record if you wish.
Verifying your website on Pinterest is a key step to building trust and growing your brand’s visibility. Whether you choose to add an HTML tag, upload a file, or update your DNS records, the process is straightforward and ensures your content is properly credited.
