One more day, one more recipe I am really enjoying having lately - my Jalapeño Garlic Marinade. 🌶️
I am not claiming this recipe as my original one (I frankly don't remember where I saw it first 😅), but I have been cooking this for months and it always gives the chicken so much flavor and tenderness with just a bit of heat in the most pleasant way.
If you want to increase protein in your diet but are tired of tasteless chicken, this recipe is particularly suitable for you. The combination of jalapeño, garlic, and lime provides that ideal mix of heat, sourness, and freshness.
Ingredients
-
1/4 cup olive oil
(Healthy fat that helps keep the chicken juicy while grilling or baking.) -
2 jalapeños (or bell peppers if you want it mild), finely chopped
(Adds that subtle heat and flavor kick!) -
4 cloves garlic, minced
(Because garlic makes everything better.) -
Juice of 1 lime
(Adds tanginess and helps tenderize the chicken.) -
1 tablespoon honey
(A hint of sweetness to balance the spice.) -
Salt and pepper to taste
-
1 whole chicken or chicken breast (high in protein)
How to Make It
-
In a bowl, combine olive oil, jalapeños, garlic, lime juice, honey, salt, and pepper.
-
Mix everything well until fully combined.
-
Add your chicken, whether it’s a whole chicken or boneless breast, and coat evenly with the marinade.
-
Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, but if you have time, 4–6 hours makes it even better!
-
You can grill, bake, or pan-sear the chicken depending on your mood (and what your kitchen situation looks like).
If you’re not into spicy food, swap out jalapeños for bell peppers, or remove the seeds before chopping. You’ll still get that amazing flavor without the extra heat.
