The first thing that comes up to your mind is customer service (right?) or some of the malicious gossips that happen in BPO?
Well, most of the time call center or business process outsourcing industry has been misunderstood or misleading due to the influence of the percentage of the population of the people working in different companies. Isn't it, we do have the same events and people or co-workers even if you're not working in BPO?
Before I graduated as an AB Communication student, I was already having that thought to work in a bpo company. Because I saw how it improves communication skills to some of my classmates that were working there. Due to curiosity, I DID TRY IT OUT!
I know by myself, that my grammar was -_- (you know what I mean?) and most of the time when I use English to have a conversation with someone, I suddenly get stuttered.
I got declined to so many BPO companies because I'm not that proficient in English speaking, well in writing you can correct your grammar, just erase that and someone will also help you to correct that before submitting your essay or article but for this one. YOU REALLY HAVE TO PREPARE (intense! haha)
And then after so many months of trial and error to so many interviews, I got hired! It was a kind of fulfillment for me.
Well, I thought it would be easy, taking phone calls, just like talking to your friends. But IT WASN'T EASY."Mahirap po manosebleed joke hahaha, lalo na kapag pinakinggan mo sarili mo yung tipong lahat kayo makikinig sa call mo na low score nako po!"
I was trained for 6 months to be able to practice to acknowledge, to empathize, to sympathize, how to use specific tools, how to converse with American people. IT'S REALLY HARD.
I was at the end of the rope, trying to keep it up.
The good thing here is that, you make new friends while making an improvement to yourself - just like other companies or work -; your social life, emotional aspect, communication skills and etc.
Salary, rice incentives, shuttle services (so that you don't have to pay the 9 pesos na bayad sa jeep papuntang work tapos swerte mo kung van pa natyempo na shuttle na sasakyan mo hahaha)
pero sa totoo lang mahirap talaga te'. Lalo na ung bigla kang nagkalong call tapos gusto mo nang matapos kase cr na cr kana hahaha. Tapos sobrang saya mo kapag inaaux ka for team meeting, pahinga din pag may time.
You'll get to enjoy every bit of working in a BPO company.
Stress will always be there "KAHIT SAAN NAMAN MERONG STRESS, mas nakakastress pa nga yung lovelife". You might also encounter people who will not like you or just don't you for reason and that's natural "kahit saan ka naman kase magpunta may tao talagang di mo mapipilit na magustuhan ka, TAMA?"
Most of the time, computers will not be your super friends but your support " madalas pa nga inaabuso mo na support mo yung tipong sila nalang yung hinahanap mo kahit nandyan naman siya, este yung tools mo"
AND IF YOU THINK PERA IS LIFE " wag pong kakalimutan na COFFEE IS LIFE TOO, yung tipong makikita mo sa basurahan na puro cup of coffee or talagang adik na adik sa mga kape kahit di naman talaga nagkakape before tapos nasira na yung vendo kakapindot, halos ng pera mo dun mo talaga inuubos kung icocompute mo lang naman"
After almost a year or how many months of being in a BPO company that I'm employed now, I decided to let it go. Let it go, because of my health and my emotional aspect is not that strong to be in this environment and it's quite affecting my job. "hindi ko lang maisip ano reaksyon pagnabasa nila to" (LET'S GO BACK TO THE MAIN TOPIC OF THIS POST)
WHAT IS IT LIKE TO BE IN A BPO?
Let me describe it in a simplest way, it is a bit of everything. Everything that you wanted to enjoy, you can choose or (not to choose hahaha minsan obligado ka kase yun yung decision ng boss mo hahaha) your schedule, make new friends as you get promoted, promotion was fast if you really did work hard, incentives are great deals that you can find here. (Just don't do overwork or overtime as always my dear, I know that money is everything mukhang pera din po ako pero gusto ko pang mabuhay haha).
SO...WHAT IS LIKE TO BE IN A BPO FOR YOU?

What I love best about the BPO industry is the kind of talent and kind of people it attracts. The industry, not having any specific formal educational requirements, is a mix of people from all industries, having left their jobs in their respective industries for different reasons. Work in BPO depends on organisations, In an Australian offshore services, work can be done outside the office with help of technology and internet. Normally outsourced where the cost and talent is considerably cheaper.
